IIM Ahmedabad Admission-Selection Criteria 2025-27

No changes have been observed in the overall CAT qualifying cutoffs. IIM Ahmedabad will release its shortlist of PI and final cutoffs in the month of January 2025. Candidates meeting the required eligibility criteria of the qualifying cut-off must complete an online form to participate in the PI round of IIM Ahmedabad.

IIM AHMEDABAD 2025-27 ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA

Candidates who are aiming to secure a seat in IIM Ahmedabad must fulfil the below eligibility criteria as mentioned below:

  • Students must have a bachelors degree with 50% as minimum cumulative grade point (CGPA). 5% of relaxation is given in academic requirement for students with reserved category.
  • The bachelor’s degree needs a minimum three years of education in addition to 10+2 or its equivalent.
  • The conversion of CGPA or marks will be completely based on the requirements of the institution the candidate has been graduated from. If the university or institution do not have/offer any conversion plan, then IIM Ahmedabad will determine by the equivalent by divided the secured CGPA by the highest CGPA and multiplying the result by 100. 
  • Final year students and taking the qualifying exams are also eligible for the same, with only condition to submit the paperwork on time before deadline. The admission of such a candidates will be confirmed based on provisional basis.

IIM AHMEDABAD 2025-27 SELECTION CRITERIA: PROCESS

IIM Ahmedabad 2025-27 selection criteria involve 2 key stages:

  • Shortlisting candidates for AWT (Analytical Written Test) and PI (Personal Interview) based on CAT 2024 score
  • Final shortlisting of candidates for admission in IIM Ahmedabad 

Special criteria for foreign nationals targeting IIM Ahmedabad:

  • Foreign nationals who are residing in India with a foreign passport must take GMAT (Previous format or focus edition) and must apply under Supernumerary Quota category.

PROCESS 1- PRIMARY ASSESSMENT 

The following steps are being taken into consideration for admission:

CAT 2024 Sections

  • QA (Quantitative Ability)
  • DILR (Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning)
  • VARC (Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension)

Eligibility requirements for next stages: 

  • Candidates need to fulfil the specified minimum sectional percentile cut offs and attain specified overall percentile rank.
  • They need to secure a positive raw score in each section (greater than zero) of CAT 2024

The normalized AR score of a candidate is determined by:

Dividing their individual score AR by the average of the 50 top AR scores among candidates who applied for IIMA and took CAT 2024 examination.

SELECTION CRITERIA 2025 IIM AHMEDABAD: AWT and PI Shortlisting

PROCESS 2- AWT and PI Shortlisting

The shortlisting process includes two stages.

    • IIMA by reviewing previous academic achievements and CAT-2024 performance identify the exceptional candidates.
    • The main objective is to ensure diversity by shortlisting top candidates across diverse academic branches for AWT (Analytical Writing Test) and PI (Personal Interview) based on the composite score i.e. CS. 
  • Eligibility Criteria for shortlisting:

Candidates must meet the eligibility requirements (C1-C3).

  • For academic category at least 100 candidates from SC/ST/NC-OBC and PwD categories appear for 2024 CAT. From the SC/ST/NC-OBC and PwD top 5% of the candidates will be shortlisted on their composite score i.e. CS.

IIM AHMEDABAD 2025-27 SLECTION CRITERIA (CRITERIA C1-C3)

Candidates should fulfil the required scores as mentioned as below: –

Minimum Scores for Assessments 

  • Percentile scored in VARC, DILR, QA and Percentile Total

10th and 12th Grade Marks

  • The 10th and 12th grades average percentage of marks must meet the eligibility cut offs as per the category of the candidates. The cutoffs are being mentioned in the table above.

Bachelor’s Degree Marks 

  • Candidates must score at least 80th percentile within their applicant group for bachelor’s degree marks. 

Fewer applicants from other categories 

  • In case there are fewer than 100 candidates from certain categories like SC, ST, PwD, the evaluation will focus on the top most performers based on composite score.

Selection for Interview 

Candidates who fulfil the criteria above and high in their respective categories will be shortlisted and selected further including the interview process.

IIM AHMEDABAD SLECTION 2025-27 CRITERIA (C4-C6)

To qualify and secure seat, candidates should meet following criteria:

  1. C4
  • Percentile Total ≥ 80
  • Percentile in QA ≥ 70
  • Percentile in DILR ≥ 70
  • Percentile in VARC ≥ 70

2. C5

Average Scores 

  • Science- 80%
  • Commerce-77%
  • Arts/Humanities-75%

3. C6

  • To qualify, candidates must score percentage of marks in their bachelor’s degree they should meet or exceed the minimum cut off range of percentage.
  • The minimum cut off percentage will be identified at 80th percentile.
  • The percentile is generally calculated based on the marks of candidates within the AC group (Academic Category).
  • The applicants pool includes candidates who have taken 2024 CAT, applied to IIM Ahmedabad, and belong to AC group.

Process of Shortlisting 

  • Candidates will be shortlisted by keeping in mind the category based on Final Composite Score (FCS).

AWT AND PIs (Analytical Writing Tests and Personal Interview)

  • IIMA will conduct AWT and PIs in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bengaluru.
  • Candidates are required to select two preferred cities for AWT and PI during application process of CAT. 
  • The shortlisted candidates will get an email notification around 2nd week of January 2025.

Shortlisting Status

  • Candidates can check the shortlisting status by visiting IIMA website (www.iima.ac.in) in 2nd week of January 2025.
  • No regret letters will be issued to candidates who are not shortlisted for AWT and PI.
